Step 7: Match Celebration
Every year, we celebrate Matches that “graduate” from our program after high school graduation. These matches have been together for 6-10 years… Amazing! Many Matches choose to stay in contact even after their formal relationship with BBBS ends.
Honoring our Matches
Think back to the first time our Matches meet each other in their Match Introduction. Think about the nerves both the Big and Little must be feeling thinking about this new person that’s coming into their life. Then, think about the years of relationship building, meaningful conversations, discovering new interests, expanding worldviews and FUN they experience together.
Each year, we are honored to recognize all of the Matches that will “graduate” from Big Brothers Big Sisters after the Little’s high school graduation. Bigs, Littles, and their families are all invited to come together to commemorate this important milestone in the course of a Match.
These relationships and this milestone is only possible because of the generous support of our donors. Over the course of a journey of a dollar donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters, our donors are there for every step.
For many Matches, this doesn’t mean their relationship ends, it just means that they’re moving into a new stage of their friendship. We have Bigs and Littles that have kept in touch for 15, 30, even 40+ years!
Here are just a couple examples of Bigs and Littles that are still in touch – into the “Little’s” adulthood!
