Meet a Match: Hans & Luis

Big Brother Hans and Little Brother Luis are a match that demonstrates youth mentoring is about quality time. The two have been matched for over four years and share many interests, including bowling, going to the movies, and recently, baking.
Luis shares that baking is a rare occasion in Hispanic households, so he asked Hans if he could teach him how to bake. Hans gladly agreed, and they’ve been finding many pastry recipes to try together. This past month, they made key lime pie and lemon bars! Now that Luis is older, the two also shared their next goals will be about transitioning to high school and planning for college.
Being a mentor can be a lot of things, but most importantly, it’s about showing up for someone. Hans and Luis’s story truly show the impact of youth mentoring can be as simple as baking together – a wholesome example of how we are #BiggerTogether.
