Using art or creative processes help to open the door of self-expression, new ways to gain personal insight and develop coping skills. During COVID-19, by using art as a form of self-care, one can also take that time to reflect on their personal identity and what it means to them.
This youth-led workshop is for matches with Littles ages 12 and up. Jolie will lead us through self-care and identity activities using acrylic paint. Please dress in clothing that you will not mind getting paint on. As this workshop will be indoors at the new BBBS space, everyone will be asked to wear a mask at all times.
Dinner will be provided and social distancing protocols will be in place.
Jolie Vu
Jolie is a junior at the Math and Science Academy (MSA) in Woodbury, Minnesota. She is passionate about advancing the equity and inclusion of youth voices in decisions that impact their lives. Jolie is also a vocal youth leader in the Youth Leadership Institution (YLI) first as a participant and currently as a mentor and transition council member. She has created and delivered a speech for the organization Edtalk about creating youth centered spaces. She has also been a part of the Cheers for Volunteers Club at MSA which seeks to support youth community engagement around the Twin Cities.
She views herself as a global citizen and has traveled to France, Spain, Italy, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. In her free time, she takes care of her dog Grizzly and loves expressing her creativity through art.
