New year, new goals! Now’s the perfect time to make those New Year’s resolutions. In honor of January as National Mentor Month, we’ve made a resolution of our own — to recruit 140 new volunteers in 60 days! We’re calling it The BIG Recruit and we want you to join us!
We’re seeking caring adults like you to mentor children ages 8 to 13. Each pair or “match” develops a unique relationship based on their interests, hobbies, and values. As a volunteer, you’ll spend time with your mentee in the community doing free or low-cost activities you both enjoy. Find an activity on your own, or take advantage of the great match events we offer for free! 
Through this rewarding experience, you’ll gain new perspectives, new experiences, and a new friend. See for yourself – apply to volunteer today!

Currently, over 300 Twin Cities youth are waiting to be matched with a caring adult mentor. Here are some easy ways you can help get more kids off the waiting list!
- Tell others about Big Brothers Big Sisters and encourage them to volunteer with us.
- Attend our Big Social on Monday, February 27 at Minneapolis Cider Company to meet current Bigs and learn more about volunteering with us. Bring your friends, too!
- Share our social media posts on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn
- Encourage others to learn more about the rewards of being a mentor by sharing this short video
- Ask your employer to promote volunteering with BBBS on your company intranet or internal newsletter (download an article here)
- Refer someone to attend one of our volunteer Info Sessions
