Intro to Fly Fishing with River City Fly Fishing
Bigs and Littles (ages 12+) are invited for a free learn-to-fly-fish event on Saturday, June 27 in Chaska, MN with River City Fly Fishing! River City Fly Fishing is a Minnesota-based nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting young people to the outdoors. This class will teach the basics of fly fishing. Topics will include tackle (rods, reels, lines, leaders, flies), casting, knots, local fly fishing opportunities, safety, conservation, and etiquette.
Due to the nature of this event and the equipment involved, this activity is recommended for Littles ages 12 and above. After a morning session of conversation and learning, each participant (Bigs AND Littles) will receive their own fly rod and reel kit to keep and continue honing their craft as an angler.
NOTE: A Minnesota fishing license is required to fish during the event for all participants 16 or older. One-day (or season-long licenses) can be purchased here.
WEATHER: Dress for the weather – we will proceed if it rains, but we’ll reschedule if the weather turns severe.
FOOD: Food will not be provided, but feel free to pack your own picnic lunch! Participants are welcome to use the pavilion all afternoon. Please bring a water bottle if attending!
WAIVERS: Waivers will be required for everyone to participate. Waivers must be completed by Bigs (for themselves) and by parent/guardians (for Littles). Waivers will be emailed to participants before the event.
