What is the BBBS Explore STEM Series
At BBBS, we strongly believe in early career exploration for young people. STEM Series events give Littles early, in-depth exposure to the exciting world of science, technology, engineering and math. Get hands on experience flying drones, programing robots, coding video games, designing swag, and building electronics! Littles will learn about classes they can take in high school to further their interests, and career paths they can pursue to follow their dreams.
Introduction to Drones
This event will provide matches the opportunity to dive into the world drone aviation. First we’ll learn about the components of a drone and practice basic operations. Then, we challenge matches to put their maneuvering skills to the test and fly their drone through a beginners aerial obstacle course.
At the end of the event, each participant will be able to take aerial photo’s of their match and will receive copies to add their match memorabilia collections!
Location
The event will at Marshall Terrace Park in Minneapolis. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoor and matches will meet at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office, half a mile from the original location. Matches will receive an email if these changes are made.
Food
Dinner will be provided, please note any dietary restrictions during registration.
Photography
At the event, we’ll also have a photographer who will be taking photos of matches for use in our various marketing campaigns (website, brochures, flyers, etc.). Please note that participating in the photo shoot is optional.
