Capital Campaign Creates Youth Mentoring Home in North Minneapolis: Letter from CEO
October 2, 2024
I am excited to report that the campaign closed in 2023, raising over $6 million for our new headquarters, a home for youth mentoring, in North Minneapolis.
Located on the corner of North Washington and Lowry Avenues, our new office is a beautiful, welcoming space for young people, families, mentors, donors, staff and community members. It will amplify and expand our mission of creating and supporting mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of all youth for years to come. We’re able to host and hub programming from here in ways never before possible.
The space was designed with and for young people, to create belonging, connection, and exploration. You’ll see youth exploring games and puzzles, engaged in art projects, and working on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) activities. You’ll see Littles and Bigs meeting one-to-one and in group activities, as well as events for families and youth on our waiting list. You’ll see matches meeting for the very first time and those years into their relationship. We’ve seen our parking lot turned into a carnival, and our kitchen used for interactive cooking demonstrations.
The new building has great working space for staff and visitors too – technology-enabled meeting and training rooms, areas for formal and impromptu collaboration, and room to grow. In addition to hosting staff, program meetings and other get-togethers, community partners utilize the space to help bolster their missions. We’re grateful to be able to share this resource with community.
The Campaign and related gifts raised $6.2 million to support the purchase, renovation, and on-going maintenance of the building for the next 20 years. This exceeded our goal, allowing us to make additional investments in the building maintenance fund to support financial sustainability now and into the future. Please refer to the financials for full details.
This building represents all we strive to be – connected to community, inclusive, packed with youthful energy and fun, and a place where we can explore, learn, and grow.
Thank you for making this dream a reality!
With gratitude,
Pat Sukhum
