The Big Hike: Show up for youth, mile after mile
May 19, 2025
From June 27 to July 20th, Seth Anderson, Manager of Volunteer Recruitment is embarking on The Big Hike: a 300-mile Superior Hiking Trail to spotlight the power of mentorship and support men’s health. More than an outdoor adventure, this hike is both a celebration and a call to action—supporting one of our team members as part of his unique bachelor party experience.
This meaningful journey highlights the critical need for more male mentors, as boys in our program often wait the longest for a match. With a focus on men’s health, community impact, and purpose-driven engagement, the hike serves as a metaphor for the mentorship journey—full of challenge, growth, and reward.
Get involved by becoming a Big, pledging miles, donating, or following along on social media. Let’s walk the talk and rally more men to stand alongside Twin Cities youth.
“This summer, I will embark on a 300-mile thru-hike of Minnesota’s Superior Hiking Trail. When I moved to Minnesota in 2020, this Trail quickly landed on my bucket list. Fast forward to a conversation with a mentor and friend who asked, “So… you doing a bachelor party before the wedding?” (I’m getting married in Sept!) That got me thinking—what better way to mark this next chapter than a 300-mile trek through the North Shore?
This hike is personal—but it’s also bigger than me. It symbolizes the resilience, consistency, and impact that mentorship brings to a young person’s life. Through storytelling, community events, and social media, we will highlight the power of mentorship and invite others to take action to mentor youth in the Twin Cities.” – Seth Anderson
The mission: inspire men to connect, mentor, and move—with purpose.
Right now, over 100 boys are waiting for a mentor. They’re full of potential—but they need someone to walk beside them. The Big Hike is a bold response to this gap.
The hike reflects what mentorship truly is: showing up, mile after mile. When a boy has a mentor, he gains a trusted guide, builds confidence, and sees a bigger future for himself.
