Being a Steady Presence in Uncertain Times
February 11, 2026
At Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities, we know that when the world feels heavy, the presence of a mentor matters more than ever.
The need for caring, consistent adults and role models in the lives of young people is as critical as ever. When circumstances beyond a child’s control threaten to derail them, the presence of a mentor can offer safety, belonging, and the steady encouragement a young person needs to keep believing in themselves, their dreams, and their potential.
In moments like this, our mission shines even brighter.
Our team is working around the clock to pivot our programming and meet the moment:

Adapting to school closures with letter-writing activities to keep Bigs and Littles connected.
Moving events to our building to provide a secure, controlled environment for our matches to thrive.
Hand-delivering Free Arts kits and food items as programming continues virtually, in a way that prioritizes partner comfort, safety, and privacy.
Providing coaching to help parents, caregivers, and mentors navigate difficult conversations with young people.
We are incredibly proud of our staff and our mentors for their resilience. If you’re looking for a way to help us sustain these program shifts, we invite you to support our mission here.
Now more than ever, every child deserves to feel they belong. Thank you for standing with Littles, families, and our resilient Twin Cities community.
