Former Little Sister Empowers Twin Cities Youth

November 9, 2019 , Jennifer Severson

As a former Little, BBBS staff member Se’Anna Johnson knows firsthand about the benefits of 1-to-1 mentoring relationships. On March 3, 2003, she was first matched with Big Sister Leah at Anderson Open School on Pajama Day, her favorite day of the year. Their sisterhood quickly flourished.

I’m very grateful to have a mentor and friend like Leah to walk with me through this journey of life. She is some one who has always encouraged me to be my best self and to walk in my truth, which is something I’m not sure I could have ever figured out how to do without her.

Fast forward to September 2019 and Se’Anna and Leah’s friendship is still going strong. Knowing how much Se’Anna loves Lenny Kravitz, Leah
surprised her with floor seats to his concert at the Orpheum for her birthday. Se’Anna shed a few “fangirl tears” and had a fantastic time.

Se’Anna continues to be grateful for a mentor and friend like Leah to walk with her through life. Leah has always encouraged her to be her best self and to walk in her truth. Now 16 years later, Se’Anna works at Big Brothers Big Sisters to ensure that your dollars are helping other kids have access to the types of longterm relationships she and Leah enjoy.
