BBBS Celebrates Fall with Back to School Bash

Over 200 Bigs and Littles attended the Big Brothers Big Sisters Back to School Bash at the Brooklyn Center Community Center on Saturday, August 17. Matches had a fun afternoon filled with goal setting, stocking up on school supplies and getting ready to go back to school.

Backpacks were lined up waiting for Little’s during the Big Brothers Big Sisters Back to School Bash event on Saturday, August 17.

Each Little received a backpack stuffed with utensils, flash drives and calculators, courtesy of United Way. After picking up their backpacks, Matches ventured off to make stress balls, meet up with the match engagement coordinators and set goals for the school year during the back to school mindset activity.

Matches and families spent the afternoon making stress balls, meeting up with their match engagement coordinators and setting goals for the upcoming school year.

Businesses and other area partners such as Mid-continent Oceanographic InstituteEmergeBrooklyn Connects, Hennepin County Libraries, Ann Bancroft Foundation and Comcast shared resources about the different programs and promotions they have to offer for BBBS families. The day wrapped up with one Little winning a new laptop, courtesy of Comcast, and a cold treat for everyone attending.
