An integral part of our core mentoring programs, Wellness for Life aims to improve the health and wellness of Big and Little Brothers and Sisters, and the Littles’ families.
Wellness for Life brings a wide variety of activities, education and incentives to appeal to as many of the children, families and mentors we serve as possible. By leveraging the mentoring relationship to encourage and provide opportunities for exercise, healthy foods and educational information on wellness, we increase healthy behaviors and maximize children’s success.
Wellness for Life delivers:
• nutrition and health educational opportunities for parents of youth participants, mentors, and youth
• improved nutritional and healthy food options for the meals and snacks we provide to participants at agency-sponsored events, such as our snacks to youth in our after-school programs
• activities offered to our matches that increase physical activities, such as exercise classes and active events
• support for independent activities and improved nutritional awareness through materials and support
